Looking
to shake-up your Friday wind-down? The team at Playup Perth – a group aiming to bring
game developers and the general public together – are coming to Riff’s Town
Hall space on the ground floor for their 14th meetup. Organisers
Donna, Sofie and Kate have managed to arrange a whopping 13 indie games for you
to try out – from side-scrollers to tabletop games.

There’s
a bunch of games to pique your interest while you chat away to the game
developers about their projects until late. Tickets include nibbles and soft drinks, and there are alcoholic
drinks available for $5 each (cash only).

Here’s
a quick summary of some of the kind of games available to play this Friday:

Working Class Weyland (Kinsley)

A
comedic side-scrolling platformer that expects a fair bit of expertise in your
Mario skills, with a difficulty setting that challenges you from the beginning.

Ned (PeeBee Games)

Loosely
based around the notorious Ned Kelly (there’s nowhere in the Australian
history archives that says there wasn’t a mysterious green slime making animals
crazy) the action platformer should be fun for anyone who tries it out.

Forests of Faerynova (Go
Studio)

A
first-person adventure following Felix, the protagonist with a mission to
protect the elusive faeries from a cult of scientists – including a toolkit of
items to collect along the way to help out.

Fluttering Souls (Nurse Shark Games)

A
2-player strategy game based on the Japanese tale of The White Butterfly – a
story of the souls of those who’ve passed on visit the living as white
butterflies. In each of the 3-5 rounds, players try to collect butterflies to
earn victory points. The player with the most points will win a white
butterfly, and three white butterflies wins the game.

Bright (Illuminoodle)

Made
from the Nordic Game Jam – a worldwide game-making weekend where nearly 500
people from 31 nations work on building a game over three days – Bright is
a side-scrolling puzzle game all about painting colours to brighten a darkened
world.
