Startup weekend is a globally recognised weekend long hackathon, giving participants a taste of what it’s like to run their own startup business.

Since launching in Perth in 2012, Startup Weekend has held 12 sellout events with participation from over 1,500 entrepreneurs, mentors, observers, and judges. The most recent Startup Weekend was held over the last weekend of June at Riff, focusing on Social Impact, with over 80 participants forming teams to tackle challenges that affect the community.

The City of Perth has also committed $150 000 of funding for West Tech Fest, the week long tech festival, over the next 3 years, as further commitment to technology, innovation and entrepreneurialism in Western Australia.
