Do you want to build solutions to create sustainable impact in just 54-hours? Join our very first crossover event, as Startup Weekend and Global Goals Jam come together to co-create solutions in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. All participants will be challenged over the weekend, as they fall in love with the problem and design for 2030.

Over the weekend, you’ll contribute to the development of short-term interventions with long-term impact for one of the biggest challenges of this decade – climate change. But, because climate change is truly a wicked problem with an interconnected nature, we’ll be tackling a smaller focus area, Regenerative Cities!

The task of participants will be in translating the global themes, Sustainable Cities & Communities [SDG11], Responsible Consumption & Production [SDG12] and Climate Action [SDG13], to our local context. Teams will be formed, prizes will be awarded and long-term impact will be had.

“We’re excited to bring these two great events together, for one massive weekend of fun,” Amilia Bakhtiar, Project Lead shared. “We’ve had a great response so far from previous attendees, and so we thought, why not bring everyone together and create real, tangible change?”

Kicking off on Friday the 26th of November, we’ll be joined by industry experts and leaders as they provide critical context around the problems participants will be solving. Then, on Saturday morning we’ll begin to Explore the Problem, and discover how we can Respond to the Problem. To do this, experts and mentors will host Sprint Sessions where you can get first-hand support and assistance.

Then on Sunday, discover how to Communicate your Problem in the morning, before learning how to Pitch Your Solution in the afternoon. Following all of these Sprint Sessions, get ready to pitch to the audience, enjoy a drink or two and celebrate.

We’re excited to welcome Western Power on board for this event, joining current partners Murdoch University and Spacecubed, and supporters at City of Perth, as we work together to support the future of Regenerative Cities, by localising the impact we have in Perth.

Ready to get started? Grab your ticket here before they’re all scooped up, tell your friends, bring your colleagues and come along to the very first Startup Weekend x Global Goals Jam!

About the Global Goals Jam

The Global Goals Jam was founded by Marco van Hout and Gijs Gootjes of Digital Society School (DSS), Boaz Paldi, Simon van Woerden and Hana Omar of UNDP and has been further developed and coordinated by Anneke van Woerden (DSS). In the first edition in 2016, 17 cities participated, in 2017 45 cities, in 2018 75 cities, and this year we are moving to over 85 participating cities. Thousands of change makers have used our methodology and are now part of this growing learning community around the SDGs, ready to design 2030 now.

More than an event, it is a network of cities and organisations that are excited to engage their local communities to create real impact for the Global Goals.
